As a woman, this story hits me in a very particular way.

While the world stops to watch a men’s World Cup, a new generation of girls is already beginning to dream of the next one. And in 2027, the Women’s World Cup comes to our country, to our field, to our Brazil. But a World Cup does not begin with the first whistle. It begins long before that.

 

With the women who played when they were told they couldn’t. With those who opened up a field where there used to be a wall. With those who kept going so that the next generation would no longer have to ask for permission.

The game is theirs too.
The field is theirs too.
The future is theirs too.

This film did not happen the way it was supposed to.

But maybe it found an even greater reason to exist.
